Hello everyone, i have just recently read the https://lifeoffantazia.rpg-board.net/official-news-announcements-f1/lof-2nd-cbt-temporary-server-closure-t59.htm post, it seems that due to lack of players the servers will be shut down until we get more players on the forums at least, so i urge all of you to please try and get some players here or i fear that the server and forum will be shut down for good, its sad i know but we need to get through this, i hope that we can get our friends to join so that the server might be put back up soon, i will do my part by telling my friends about the game, but please help us by getting your friends online Very Happy

P.S
i haven't been on in a very long time sorry all, i just read the forum post today

Even though it's been more than a month since the game server has been closed, thank you for all your continuous support.
It would be great if we can get more players to test the game, and I would really appreciate any efforts to invite others to the game.
I have been recently thinking about working on the game again, so if I see a rise in interest again (maybe more registered users on the forums), I'll plan a 3rd Closed Beta Testing phase.

At least there is still hope we can get this going, i suggest trying out some 3d and try implement that into the game if possible admin, i read on yoyogames about a 3d mmorpg that closed after a year of fame, if you turned it into 3d (with some work and investment) that might work, i think we should really change the game a bit this time to experiment a bit and see if that works or not, its mostly about getting the right audience for the game, but i really hope we can get this game going and get it online and working in no time Very Happy

Thanks for the tips and the enthusiasm! To be honest, I'd really like to keep it as a 2D game (well, changing this game into 3D at this point would be impossible anyways...). What I am trying to do right now is however, to work on graphics and presentation. It seems like the first thing people see and ignore the game is the graphics (oh, woe to those modern gamers corrupted by the technology and ignoring the gameplay D': ) .
After once abandoning the game, I am now open for any kind of hard modifications (except anything that causes me to rewrite almost every single line of code, such as making it 3d ;_; ). Maybe even changing the game to a 2d sidescroller (which would take a ton of work). I wish I could get some more feedbacks and opinions from players interested in the game, but I'm not really sure where to go to ask those people D:

edit:
http://www.quibblo.com/quiz/dPQPZqM/What-do-you-want-from-a-2D-Indie-MMORPG
I attempted a survey, but I wasn't even sure what to exactly ask! xD
Many players also said that the lack of the number of players online/ players in the community primarily causes their own lack in spending time on LoF.
It's a tough problem, since the game should have such a small community in the beginning, and that means the game will not be able to easily gain players before it gains any more players (like some unending loop...). Hm;;

Well i think making a side scrolling MMO would work but i dont think on this game, i think that you could make a different game in future of a side scrolling mmo, by the way im going to take the test, and i think that the lack of players only contributes to a medium portion, because people want a social aspect of the MMO as well, i also think we should advertise more, get the word out that a new mmo is out. Once we get more players into the game we could have a lot more fun, but working on the graphics would work, but would only appeal to those who are born in the ultra-tech era (FYI Nowadays) but i hope the game becomes successful and we get more people playing the game and enjoying the game, who knows maybe one day we will have donations from the players

Ah, thanks for taking the survey.
I would love the game to gain some popularity, but not I don't really want an all-out open-advertisement... Maybe this mindset of mine is the problem D:
Anyways, I'll be working on the graphics and sprites (I guess I'll go with non-sidescroll for now then). Maybe I'll release multiple offline versions and let the testers decide what's good and what's not.

that seems like a good idea, because we can let the players decide what content they want in an mmorpg and what content they can live without.

Alright, so it seems like I am completely skipping over the "multiple taste releases". With just 2 testers, I've been developing the offline engine from the ground up at maximum quality. I'm not sure how this will affect the development in the future after release, as this workload is beyond the capabilities of one person. But for now, with minimum content, I was able to add a variety of systems (inventory system is 85% finished right now) that can later be easily incorporated into the online version.

The LoF~RE I mentioned to be released in late October will probably be a taste-test version of an extremely high quality/intricacy version of the old LoF engine, made offline. What I'm hoping, is that the release will trigger many interests to give LoF OBT enough interested/active players during its debut.

[GM] Game Master, seeing as this will be just a test wouldnt it be fine to rush it a bit, i mean this IS a test and if you rush this, people will play that while you remove bugs and make it better quality for the final version, PLUS you would have half your work load already done in the form of a demo.

Ah, so do you mean releasing something like a rolling/running version of the offline test engine?
I don't have too much problems with that, but the problem is, as much as I'd like to rush and release the game... I did not have much time to work on it for the last 5 days or so.
